Evelyn Freida Behrend

Evelyn Freida Behrend, 96, of Pound was called to her Heavenly home early Saturday morning July 28, 2012. Evelyn was born on Oct. 19, 1915 to the late George and Hattie (Gall) Guenther in the town of Beaver. She married William Behrend on Nov. 18, 1933. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1957. They owned and operated Behrend’s Service Station,Tavern and Garage on Hwy. 141 and 64 in Pound for 22 years. Then she was partner in Evan Lands and worked at Coleman Products after retiring from the business. She loved nature and the out of doors, especially stream trout fishing. She was modest about her excellent cooking , especially her baked chicken, beef roast, and homemade bread. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Lorna Behrend of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Karla (Duane) Georgia of Green Bay and Amber Wagner of Peshtigo, great-grandchildren; Matthew (Jamie) Georgia and Jaclyn Georgia of Green Bay; Ross (Brittany) Wagner of Escanaba, MI; Ashlie (Charlie) DeSmidt of Crivitz; and three great-great grandchildren; Cullen and Bennett Georgia, and Macie DeSmidt, two sisters-in-law, Julia Behrend of Crivitz and Alice Guenther McMahon and her husband Joe of Marinette, and many nieces and nephews, especially Delmar and Sylvia Kienitz of Pound, Violet and Roy Gove of Austin, TX; Donna Reif of Peshtigo, Avis of Stevens Point, George Guenther of Crivitz, and Gretchen Kienitz of Marinette. Besides her parents and husband, William, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Edward, Willard, and Ervin Guenther; and one sister, Hildegarde (Kienitz) Klein; and 3 nephews, David and Elton Kienitz; and Warren Guenther. Friends may call at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hwy 64 and 3rd Road, Pound from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31st until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Mark Hannemann will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman assisted the family.
